The Chinese Learning Center (CLC) offers Chinese language courses of varied and succeeding levels, teacher training courses and testing, culture courses and consulting services, as well as summer Chinese language and culture courses.
The CLC teaches Mandarin Chinese using effective, proven methods, allowing students to acquire practical communication skills within a set span. The CLC faculty members are all experienced, native-speaking Chinese teachers who are qualified to teach Chinese as a second or foreign language. Classes are customized to the needs of students. Online, CD-Rom, audio, and video learning technologies are offered where appropriate to enhance the development of students.
As for facilities and resources for students, our library stocks over 710,000 items, including books, journals, electronic books and journals, electronic databases, audio-visual materials, newspapers, maps, and microfiches. Also, the library is affiliated with the Cooperative Association of the Libraries of Universities of Education in Taiwan. This interlibrary loan system increases the student access to other library resources. In addition to library resources, there are also physical recreation facilities, such as tennis, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, and basketball courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness room, dancing rooms, and a weight training room.
The CLC offers a tutoring service to enable students to practice Chinese conversations with Taiwanese volunteers. In addition, the center also offers students opportunities to visit local families or homestay accommodations in the houses of NTCU members to learn more about Taiwanese culture and customs.
